and I’m not afraid to admit it!

James Brausch pointed me to Terry’s blog, I posted from one blog, but not sure how it shows up with permalinks and all…so I’m trying again! Here’s the post ….

http://terrydean.org/free-jay-abraham-mastermind-marketing-audio-series/trackback/

Incidentally, speaking of taking action — let me tell you about my experience at Yanik’s Underground III seminar last week, and how taking action got me an iPod Shuffle!

One of the speakers, Perry Belcher, brought up a bunch of gifts and threw them out to people for answering questions. Late into his presentation he was looking for a word — the word was “zigurnik” (not spelled that way, just pronounced that way) — which I shouted out. He thanked me (anonymous voice in the crowd) — but then I piped up “iPod!” (he’d given a couple of iPods away already, so I was hoping there was still one left!)! Ever cooperative, he looked in his bag and had the iPod shuffle — but first, he tried to bribe me away from the iPod with Godiva chocolates. Well, I just read a book by Paul McKenna, sent to me by friend, fellow masterminder, Aussie physician Martin Russell — “I Can Make You Thin” — from Amazon.co.uk, even! So, chocolates weren’t even a temptation. I wanted my iPod — and I got it!

Woohoo!

It’s called — taking action (and speaking up!).

Now what am I doing? I’m using my iPod Shuffle to listen to internet marketing audios while I go take my daily walks! Righto!

(Incidentally, when I was in nursing school, I managed to get a poor 9 year old some nutrition who hadn’t had any for about 2 days due to a misunderstanding among the docs. The docs were rounding and said something to the effect that she was receiving parenteral nutrition — and I said “No she’s not!” After a few more questions were asked — like how many IVs did she have (they couldn’t look?) — they found out the means for her getting parenteral nutrition had been removed about 2 days before. Hadn’t had any food or nutrition since then. Finally got some (but man, there’s a whole ‘nother story attached to that!).

Probably the most famous quote from Woody Allen is:

“80 percent of success is just showing up”

Prolific Blogger and Internet Marketer James D. Brausch – the author of an inventive and intriguing software program that gives weight to various words for marketing purposes (Glyphius) — recently stopped permitting comments on his blog.

One of the side-effects of this, he understands and encourages, is for other folks in the internet marketing (or just marketing) realm to get their blogs up — because, with blogs, we can always comment on his, and they will be tracked thru the trackback links. (Of course, you have to set them up!)

Of course, this also increases his backlinks.

And James has been doing more to encourage even more backlinks to his blog — he’s had a contest. A contest that, apparently, only one person entered.

So I’m writing this to also enter the contest. But not to just enter the contest (the prize is a cruise, which is cool, and I’ve never been on one) — because that’s not what really motivated me to write.

Now, I’ll give you two choices as to my motivation — either

I really was insulted and didn’t want to be put into James 0.04% of winners, of people who take action, of people who will not be broke at the time of their retirement; or,

I wanted to complain that James is using faulty reasoning. Because his supposition is that the people who didn’t enter are part of that 99.6% (now) who are, by implication, failures. Failures for not entering his contest.

Well, James, I haven’t entered your contest ’til now because I don’t have enough time to keep up with my email, let alone your posts. (When I mean prolific, I really do mean prolific. And he sends a message out to his list with every new post.)

But, I’ll thank you, James, for motivating me by making me mad. I really have projects I’m working on, should be working on, rather than writing this post. But you made me mad enough (the emotion) to take action (motion).

I’m not sure I agree with Woody Allen.

I think, really, that 90% of success is action.

But I don’t have Woody’s success, so I doubt anyone will quote me.

At least not yet.

But then I remember a question from my childhood — are people famous because of what they say, or are their quotes remembered because they are famous?

I think it’s some combination of both.

As for taking action — taking action is a habit. Each time you take action, you lay down or re-inforce the “take action” neural pathways — so taking action just gets easier and easier.

Maybe you won’t even have to get emotional to take action.

If you get known as someone who takes action, then even if you are taking action about nothing, or your action results in nothing, eventually someone will give you fodder that will produce something, because the something simply requires someone to put it into action.

There are lots of folks with ideas who would like to see if those ideas (which may or may not have worked for them) are actually workable.

You could say that action is the missing vitamin in the diet of failures.

So — if y’all want to commit to a diet of taking action, post your comment on my very new blog. I’d be interested to see what happens. I may talk to some of my internet marketing friends and see if they are interested in folks who have simply committed to taking action. Maybe it will spark something.

In fact, here’s your first action-taking task — create a blog and link back to mine, by making a comment, by getting a trackback. In fact, I’ve come up with a name — I’m going to call it the “action corps” — the action corps to take core action!

Speaking of action — or lack thereof — you should check out James’ statistics on television watching. I catch an hour or two of television whenever I find myself in a hotel, since the tv nearly always comes with the room. Otherwise, I live on a steady diet of talk radio. We talk-radio listeners probably don’t make up a big enough demographic for anyone to study us though.

James, I haven’t read your posts carefully enough to know whether I need to do more than post to get an entry into your cruise contest. I don’t even know if it’s still going on. In fact, I don’t even know whether I could make it. But I’m gonna throw my hat into the ring (a nice political colloquialism that usually refers to people entering a race, especially a presidential race — and we’ve had enough of those to make any hatter happy.)

Why should you pick me? Well, obviously, you can say stuff that makes me take action; you stimulate responsiveness in me. But I’m not satisfied to keep it to myself — I want to spread the “take action” wealth by starting an “action corps” — people who take a pledge to start making taking action a habit.

(BTW — I’ve gone a little crazy with the trackbacks — it may have taken 15-20 minutes to set up a blog, but another 15-20 or more to figure out trackbacks

See you soon!

Live JoyFully!
